Orangewood is truly achieving its goal of democratizing robots: its $5,000 robot arms made of automotive components are undercutting the competition, which starts at $35,000, and are powered by RoboGPT, which allows users to create custom programs for the robot arms using simple commands in natural language. RoboGPT also allows users to coordinate multiple robot arms to work together on a single project. The company’s idea is to create cheaper, compute-heavy robot arms because compute power is cheaper now, whereas other manufacturers are programming everything into the machine. With the affordable price of its machinery, it will be easy for mom-and-pop shops to reap the benefits of automated processes that are otherwise currently available only to large-scale corporations.
